Find the Whitening Option That’s Right for Your Smile

Over time your teeth can lose much of their natural luster, as they become stained and appear a dull yellow or gray color. Fortunately, a drab smile is easy to correct. As part of our cosmetic dentistry services, our teeth whitening treatment can take your smile from dull to dazzling. Some patients want a smile that’s just a little brighter, while others want a gleaming white smile that draws second looks. We’ll help you achieve the appearance you desire.

You can choose from two different ways to whiten your teeth:

  • In-Office Treatment – This treatment is for you if you want fast and dramatic results for an upcoming event like a wedding or reunion. With just a few minutes in our chair, we can brighten your smile by several shades.
  • At-Home Treatment – If you’d like more flexibility with your whitening treatment, or time is not a factor, then we’ll give you professional whitening trays and a concentrated gel to use in the convenience of your home.

Common Questions About Teeth Whitening
Can teeth whitening be permanent?

Teeth whitening isn’t permanent. You can expect its effects to last for at least a few months and up to a year if you take steps to control staining. This includes not using tobacco, practicing good oral hygiene, and avoiding staining substances such as coffee and red wine. It’s a good idea to rinse your mouth with water after consuming staining foods or drinks.

Is teeth whitening painful?

If you leave store-bought whitening strips on too long, your gums can become irritated. That’s one reason we recommend professional whitening over store-bought whitening kits. In addition, with all types of whitening, some patients experience tooth sensitivity to hot and cold after their treatment. This sensitivity usually goes away in a few days and doesn’t cause any other problems.

Can I eat after my teeth whitening treatment?

After your whitening treatment, refrain from eating or drinking for a minimum of four hours, opting only for water during this period. For the initial 48 hours following the procedure, it’s advisable to consume a diet consisting of “white” foods such as bread, pasta, yogurt, rice, milk, turkey, and chicken. Due to the porous nature of your teeth post-whitening, they are prone to staining. Adjusting your diet during this time can optimize results and minimize sensitivity.
